Halloweeeeeen
With this week being Halloween and us talking about fear in media, I have been thinking about what kind of scary media I consume. This year for Halloween, my roommate and I watched Hocus Pocus (classic) and Charade as well as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Looking at all of those, I realize that they are not scary at all, they're mostly just stereotypical "Halloween" movies but not really "scary" movies. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I am just not really a fan of truly "scary" media.
I hate horror movies, especially ones that have any kind of demonic possession or anything like that. I just don't understand how people find any kind of joy when watching that kind of media (although if that is you, I don't in any way want to judge you, I do understand that there are a lot of people that do get a lot of joy out of horror movies).
I am definitely more of a fan of movies that make me feel good and don't make me feel like I'm going to get murdered in my sleep that night. Although I am absolutely open if anyone has any suggestions for any Halloween movies to squeeze into the holiday before I start watching Hallmark Christmas movies!
I'm so glad that we have the same viewpoint on scary movies so we don't have to deal with one of us forcing the other to be terrified for several days hahaha.
ReplyDeleteAshley, your comment about starting to watch Hallmark Christmas movies got me thinking about how fun it is that people make media based on holidays! I think that has become a huge part of how we celebrate holidays throughout the year. Even though different holidays have different meanings to each of us, I think it's cool that we all can bond over certain Halloween or Christmas movies.
