The Great British Baking Show
It just feels so wholesome watching it because while they are in a competition, everyone is so kind and gracious to each other. They are always looking for ways that they can help each other in their baking. In one of the episodes, one of the contestants accidentally knocks another contestant's cakes to the ground and she feels so bad about it that she is basically inconsolable. They really are so humble and grateful to be there and all of the contestants are friends! It is so precious! Not to mention the fact that the treats they bake are always look mouthwateringly delicious!
I just really love it in contrast to some of the American shows I've seen where there is just this uncomfortable atmosphere of competition and everyone is trying to sabotage each other. Even the judges are fairly tame in their feedback that they give, always trying to give both positive and negative feedback. Not to mention the fact that it is hilarious. Overall, it's just a precious wholesome piece of media and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
The Great British Baking so is amazing. I completely agree with everything you said. When I'm not looking up what the heck marzipan is (or really any other dessert they make), I just take time to appreciate how nice they are to each other. I hate cooking shows because of how mean everyone is to each other, but I really enjoy this one.
ReplyDeleteI love this show! Makes me want to work on my cooking skills!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen a part of one of the episodes and so I am not super familiar with this show, but I liked what I saw! I do think it is refreshing to have a competition show where people are kind, I feel like cupcake wars was a bit like this, maybe? But I think it just goes to show that we don't have to be mean to be competitive.
ReplyDeleteI love this show! I love it because they are so kind to each other even though there is a lot of pressure to perform well. I feel like American cooking shows take the angle of being merciless when there is competition, which is not appealing to me. I enjoy watching them encourage each other as they all strive to perform well . It's interesting that different parts of the world have different attitudes and approaches to the same genre of entertainment.
