Schitt's Creek
Alright, y'all I've been keeping one of my truest TV loves on the back burner throughout these media weeks because I cannot always wholeheartedly recommend it (the show is rated TV-MA for profanity...). However, this week I watched the last three episodes of the last season of Schitt's Creek and I truly cannot keep my thoughts to myself. This show has my whole heart!
Every single one of the characters undergoes such growth throughout the show. Starting out the first episode as narcissistic monsters who lose everything they own (which was a CONSIDERABLE amount of things) when a corrupt business partner does them dirty and takes all of their assets. David, Alexis, Moira, and Jonny Rose move to the podunk town of Schitt's Creek (a town Johnny had bought for his son David as a joke several years before) and obviously hilarity and general mischief ensues.
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just leave everything as vague as I can. But as I finished up the last couple of episodes I just really reflected on the journey that I felt I had gone on with the Rose family and I felt a weird, mom-like pride in everything they had accomplished and everything they had learned through their six seasons. They had learned from their mistakes and come to love and appreciate themselves individually and as a family in a way I truly never would have thought possible when I started the show. I may or may not have shed tears as it was coming to an end (I definitely did).
So really if you're looking for a show with wonderful character growth, wacky familial interactions, hideous wigs, wild fashion, and some of the strangest insults I've heard in a show, Schitt's Creek is definitely for you!
I've never seen Schitt's Creek. but now I think I have to ??
ReplyDeleteWow that was a really good recommendation. I love when characters grow and you learn with them! Glad you loved it!
ReplyDeleteokay I have watched the first episode like 3 times and I have never wanted to watch the second episode... but I think after reading this post I will! It sounds amazing tbh, and I really want to get into a new tv show!
